Use Your HSA or FSA Funds for Professional Health Education

Invest in Your Health, Tax-Free

Did you know that many Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow you to use pre-tax dollars for nutrition and weight management programs? If your physician has recommended lifestyle changes to manage or prevent a chronic condition, you can likely work with Simple Solutions Nutrition and Fitness using your benefits.

Common Qualifying Conditions

Under IRS guidelines, “general health” isn’t usually covered, but disease management and prevention are. If you are seeking support for the following, your funds likely apply:

  • Type 2 Diabetes or Pre-diabetes management
  • Obesity or Physician-recommended weight loss
  • Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
  • Hyperlipidemia (High Cholesterol)
  • Heart Disease Prevention

Why Choose Simple Solutions?

As a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) with a degree in Nutrition, my programs are rooted in evidence-based health education. Most HSA/FSA administrators recognize professional health education as a vital component of medical care for chronic disease management, making our services highly eligible for reimbursement.

How to Get Started (3 Simple Steps)

1. Consult Your Physician Ask your doctor if a nutrition and fitness program would benefit your specific diagnosis.

2. Obtain a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) To satisfy IRS and insurance requirements, you will need a signed LMN from your provider. I can provide a pre-formatted LMN template that you can simply take to your doctor to sign.

3. Book & Pay Once you have your LMN, you can use your HSA/FSA debit card at checkout just like a standard credit card. Alternatively, I can provide you with an itemized receipt to submit for reimbursement.

Important Note & Disclaimer

While most HSA/FSA administrators accept CHES-led health education for chronic conditions, every plan is different. We recommend calling your benefits administrator to confirm that “Nutrition and Health Education” is a covered expense under your specific plan.
